Kelly Blue Book, the primary source for automobile purchasing and pricing information in the United States, has released its quarterly survey of new car buyers. The study is non-scientific but considered authoritative. The preferences of car buyers appear to be changing, with negative press having a serious effect. The top five factors that vehicle buyers are considering are driving comfort, reliability, driving performance, safety, and efficiency in their new automobile.
Most consider Ford first
At this time last year, Toyota held the top position. This year, though, the Kelly Blue Book quarterly survey says that a full 29 percent of buyers who want a new vehicle are thinking about a Ford. Within the next few years, truck sales are expected to increase significantly, which is supported with this current statistic.
Toyota takes second spot
Toyota motors are showing the effects of numerous safety recalls over the last year. Even with those difficulties, though, 22 percent of auto buyers are nevertheless thinking about a Toyota first. This strong showing is partially because of the high fuel efficiency of the cars. The particularly successful “Swagger Wagon” advertising campaign is also cited as a reason Toyota had such a strong showing.
3rd place for Chevrolet
New auto purchasers are, 21 percent of the time, looking for a Chevrolet vehicle. This increase in interest in Chevrolet could be partially because of the Volt, even though there is a very high price tag. The reputation for safety in Chevrolet automobiles is a big part of the reason this brand did so well.
Fourth place for Honda
Honda is doing very well on the list thanks to their reputation for saving fuel and being very reliable. One out of each and every five people who are considering purchasing a new automobile are considering a Honda car.
Hyundai sneaks into fifth place
Nissan used to be a reliable player within the top five list, but South Korea brand Hyundai has ousted it. Well-known fuel sippers, Hyundai vehicles are being considered by 13 percent of car buyers.
