There are some additions and upgrades you are able to make to your automobile for making regular maintenance and repairs a little easier. To make changing oil easier, a vehicle owner can install a remote oil filter. The idea is pretty simple; you install and adapter kit, and send/return hoses that go to the new location of the oil filter and mounting bracket. It can make changing oil a lot easier, and if done properly there are virtually no risks.
Striking oil
Nearly each and every car, truck, van, SUV and motorcycle has an aftermarket remote oil filter kit available. A remote oil filter kit is not terribly costly either. It will likely cost less than $ 100. Even for those who have a mechanic install it, the job is not complicated or time consuming and shouldn’t cost much. Simply install the adapter, the mounting bracket for the filter in the location of your choosing, and attach send and return hoses from the new filter location to the old one.
Little to lose
There is really nothing to lose. The benefit of the modification is mostly for the DIY auto repair types, as the only loss is the cost of parts and possibly labor. If you don’t change your own oil, it just makes things easier on your mechanic. The upside is that it makes changing the oil filter a cinch. The only thing you’ll have to crawl under the hood for is to remove and replace the oil drain plug. You should be doing so each and every 3,000 miles. The filter is changed just like normal.
The good the bad and also the oily
Putting in a remote oil filter is not terribly complex or costly. It won’t conserve you lots of cash, but simply makes your own maintenance just a little easier. If you drive a vehicle that’s low to the ground, it can have you under the car for less time than you normally would be there.
